Souvenir from Seoul, Summer 2026
Every summer I visit Seoul, but each year feels different. While upcycling and customization have been on my radar for a few years, this summer it was DIY and sewing workshops that seemed to pop up everywhere. I wondered if they were truly becoming more popular or if I was just noticing them because of my own growing interest. To find out, I decided to join one. The workshop, hosted by the 'Deadly Sewing Club,' showed me the true joy of sewing with others. It was a cozy morning of sipping coffee, sharing snacks, and sewing at our own pace. I fell in love with their motto called the 'Chiang Mai spirit'—a reminder that you don't have to be so serious or perfect. It helped me rediscover the simple joy of hand sewing and the warmth of doing it together.
